@Materof2 based on last year, merit followed in the mail about a week or so later. Would you expect that again this year? Daughter is EA applicant in the highest oos merit tier, but the act outshot the gpa by a bit so can’t be sure she’ll get in.
Our school does gpa on 100 scale. I think Miami says they take the gpa provided on the transcript and doesn’t recalculate for merit, so how do we know what they’ll use? I’ve seen formulas of gpa/25 and gpa/20-1. Either way, her 92/100 safely clears 3.5 so I think we’ll be ok there.
Re merit: My grandma always said, “Don’t jump the hole til you get to it. Otherwise, you’ll jump in it.” Right now, just cross all the fingers and toes until those decisions come out. ?. Ask me again after midnight on 12/1…
@2019hope yes, it would be very helpful to know that. I can’t imagine that, under any circumstances, a 92/100 could be calculated as anything less than a 3.6 really. Plus, I actually went through the exercise of recalculating the GPA on a course by course basis (i.e. 94=4.0, 90=3.7 etc) and wound up with a 3.69 weighted. And these grades are from a well-respected public school so that’s not going to weight things down either.
Date Applied: Don’t remember, but before the EA deadline (Oct?)
Have you visited the campus?:We looked at the campus while driving through OH. It was a Sun so admissions wasn’t open. No formal tour, but we went into the Armstrong Center and walked around campus. Amazingly beautiful
Major: Business School
Applying to the Honors Program or University Academic Scholars Program= I don’t think my D looked into that
@citymama – we went to the Farmer School presentation earlier this fall. I believe they said that the requirements for direct admit varies by year depending on the applicants… but I think they said that last year’s was around a 29 ACT score. I would assume it would be similar this year.
Does anybody know if they communicate direct admit to a college at the same time they communicate university acceptance? Or does that come later?
We got an e-mail overnight saying that my son’s decision letter will be mailed today and his decision will be posted on the portal at midnight on Saturday. This is nerve wracking. Based on promised decision dates, we thought Miami would be the first decision he’d receive. It’ll actually be his 3rd (both the others have been acceptances). Both of the others came much earlier than we expected, so there wasn’t this period of nervous anticipation.
