Class of 2024 - deferrals or denials for EA applicants?

Have any EA applicants received a deferral or denial from MN yet?

I have heard of only one person but they has very low stats.

Speaking of this, has anyone else not heard back from the U yet? specifically in-state?

@hotelspunk33 My son hasn’t heard back yet, applied mid Sep, but we’re from WI.

Just received an update that my son was deferred. Ugh, back to the waiting game.

@ie2020 – Thanks for the update. We are still waiting (applied mid-October), so at this point I assume the news will not be good for us. Not that my S really cares anymore. But it would be nice to get closure. Did you get an email to check portal?

@aewlmom There wasn’t an email; my son has been checking his application tracker every day as Minnesota is his first choice.

@ie2020 – Thanks! I’m sorry that your son did not receive the news he wanted. Hopefully good news later this spring! And I appreciate the info. My S just checked and still nothing on his portal.

Accepted into College of Liberal Arts, but applied to CSOM. Is the business school reviewed later?

My son is still waiting. Seems like all of a sudden many people are posting that they have decisions.

My son applied CSOM but his ACT may be a little low. Second choice was CHED. Did you just get your decision tonight? When was last time you checked? I can’t figure out any timing pattern to decisions.

@drjdillon My son noticed a change in the wording on his tracker at around 8 this morning and then received the decision via the tracker at 5pm.

I’m so sorry to hear he was deferred. How stressful. I saw his stats on another reply and I am shocked he was deferred. I will never understand college admissions. We are also from Wisconsin so I’m curious how much being out of state plays into it.

@ie2020 – I am also surprised (saw your son’s stats – they’re great). Almost without fail, my son has been accepted to schools we thought were long shots (e.g., Tulane) and deferred from schools we thought would be no problem (e.g., our in-state flagship UIUC). Naviance has not been helpful at all. In fact, it feels a bit random at times.

@drjdillon – I feel like we are the last ones left!

Any word yet? Nothing here as of now :slightly_frowning_face:

@drjdillon – Nada. Portal looks exactly the same as it did on October 17th and every day thereafter.

So ready to just have this decision so we can finalize his plans!

Sorry to hear that. Definitely there is value to closure.

We are in the same boat; DS applied Oct. 22 to engineering school, from NY. No formal deferral, just waiting.

My son (out-of-state) received a deferral for CEDH yesterday; he applied mid-October. Not his top choice, but he still wants to wait to see next decision round in spring we assume. I think it’s more competitive for out-of-state students in this pool.

@PARENTREVIEWS may I ask what your son’s stats are? my daughter applied to CEHD and is still waiting.
