I have the red icon shown on this. Very weird
That is not the address my D got. The link goes directly to her NetId. The return email for hers is StudentFinancialAid_Services@uconn.edu. not sure how you got such a strange one
We need someone to figure out what is going on somehow this is truly riveting
@CollegeorBustNE I have the same email as you and the link from the Financial Aid services. But, I had an attached PDF with that title
@Miggyd77 I need like a bag of popcorn LMAO I live for drama
@h8annah I love that… great minds think alike LOL
I’m thinking a glass of wine
Red (no encryption) No encryption. Unencrypted mail which is not secure.
We are getting uCONNED by these email phishers rn
Still no email here…but wondering if anyone has checked the school’s social media? Or posted a question about this to their Instagram, fb etc?
Nothing on their twitter smh
Right @philippians mine said red, not encrypted
I think everyone is over analyzing. I feel bad for all that have UCONN as number 1. This is just sad
There are a few comments on Reddit - someone thought it might be linked to students in the New Haven area. We live in Fairfield County - my son has not gotten an email tonight.
I’m just freaking out. Let’s look at the facts:
1)Email says financial aid updated on portal; there’s nothing on the portal.
2) @Jamieh55 claims to have a PDF with a sketchy name.
3) It’s not encrypted.
4) It’s not the typical admissions address
5) There are different dates
@“IMPATIENT MOM” I’m not in the New Haven area.
This is not a phishing email. This is likely just UConn’s student admin mass emailer at work. I’m an ECE student and I often get emails from SAProductionServer@uconn.edu, with the red lock as well. The phishing stuff a few weeks ago has nothing to do with this. That was the result of a data breach months ago, and it really only affected current UConn students. Anything from the student admin will be unencrypted I’m pretty sure.
This is the result of stupid people, not malicious people IMO. I absolutely can’t explain why people are getting it in waves and why some people’s emails say the 29th of February, though.
Let’s face it, personal data does get hacked, even by huge companies. Think about what’s on your/your child’s application (name, DOB, SS#, address). I really hope this is not the case, but yikes!
Whatever it is, it’s ridiculous!
I have to agree, all of my ECE emails have those underscores as well. It would be shocking to see thousands of people’s info hacked right on the spot. I think it’s safe to say that someone accidentally sent the FA offers too early.
