Class of 2024 - University of Connecticut

No it doesn’t really make a difference if you are in state they will automatically consider you for branch if you do not meet criteria for storrs even if you didn’t put it according to my guidance counselor

Interesting. Coming from in-state, the branches are of zero interest to ds in terms of location or program. My ds22, on the other hand, will probably apply for the Hartford branch and will be lucky to get in. Different profile entirely.

For sure!

CTCape…that could be it. We are OOS…so branch wouldn’t even be a possibility.

Like a few posted here, under Financial Aid tab I see "View Financial Aid’ link and “New Admit Scholarship Acceptance” link. Also there is ‘search’ link under Academics tab. These are new links. As I posted earlier, I saw the similar changes two years ago for my elder kid around 2/23 and the decisions came out 2/28. He was accepted with scholarship. I believe the same this time for my younger kid, but you never know until decisions come out.

Anyone have any idea what time on March 1 they will start to release decisions? And do they release all at once or does it take a couple days?
My D also applied to UF and their website is specific and says decisions release 2/28 at 6pm. I wish all schools were like that…

My son also has “view financial aid” on the student admin portal. And he has “a decision appeal must be submitted” to request Storrs campus. We are in state. I would imagine it would be too late to submit a major change at this point although the system seems to allow it. I really hope Friday is the day for decisions!

@IMPATIENT MOM

We have the same as you. We do not have anything about scholarship.

@philippians @“IMPATIENT MOM” The “New Admit Scholarship Acceptance” link appears under the 'View Financial" aid link. If you click on the Scholarship link, it will give you information about diff types scholarships awarded at UCONN and at the bottom you have a checkbox to accept. It doesn’t give any info about what specific scholarship has been awarded to the student or how much it is. That you will only know when decisions come out. Based on my past experience, this means you kid has been accepted and awarded a scholarship.

I have the scholarship link! Does anyone know how the placement exams work? I already got a 5 on AP Chem, and I should have math credit in Calc III and DiffyQ from in-state. Will UCONN not take it?

Uconn will take 4 and 5 on the AP exams

I want decisions to come out so bad!!!

@jmsstb last year they came out at 5 pm on March 1st it was released all at once.

Nothing about scholarship here either… applied RD, so not sure if it’s the early applicants that are seeing this first? I asked that above but no one responded. OOS here.

@MThopeful2022 to be honest, I have no clue about the scholarship thing. If you applied by December 1, you were supposed to get priority consideration. I’m not sure what the link even means. Also, I’m not sure how the whole scholarship process works for OOS applicants.

@MThopeful2022 , son applied by 12/1 for Priority First-Year Application Deadline for Merit & Honors Consideration; however decisions are released at the same as for “regular decision” applicants. There isn’t an EA option.

From the website:

December 1
Priority First-Year Application Deadline for Merit & Honors Consideration
Admissions decision notification begins March 1

January 15
Storrs Campus Application Deadline
Admissions decision notification begins March 1

I’ve had two other kids apply to UCONN. Daughter had both fin aid and scholarship links and when she was accepted, she got both. Son had fin aid link only and when he was accepted he only had the financial aid (loans) link; hence no scholarship $$. As I recall, both showed up a week or so before the actual decision was released. So, in my opinion, if you have either one (or both) at this point I would say it’s safe to assume you’ve been accepted. The question is for those of us in-state, which location…

@MThopeful2022

We applied in October and my son is in the top 10% of class. We are in state, no scholarship link.

agreed. This is my third applying as well. Also, the letter in the mail will confirm because if you start at a branch it’s not automatically for two years (or 54 credits) Some go up after one semester or one year. The portal will tell you which campus and the letter will tell you how long.

Thanks… just trying to read the tea leaves! So far, I’m thinking it’s a no. Financial aid link bring me to two years (2020 & 2021 but neither has info). no scholarship link.
