Class of 2025 Admissions Decisions ONLY - University of Delaware

It’s great that she has such good choices. I don’t think she could go wrong with any of them. My dd is accepted at all the same schools.

My son and I watched the admitted virtual visit experience in January. If I am remembering correctly, they touched on merit aid. I can’t remember exactly how they said it but I took it as the only merit aid that would be successfully appealed is if there is a mistake on the transcript.

Good luck.

ok, thanks. That’s helpful. Not exactly good news, but at least I know

My son has a 3.7 uw/4.1 w, 1490 SAT, 3 year president of a non profit, 2 varsity sports for 4 years, other ECs and he only got the 10k as well. He was accepted into the HC tho. Very disappointing.

The appeal. An take until March. My older daughter I Appealed and they gave her more money . I only needed to show what her Merit money from
Other schools are and her real interest in going to school in Delaware. I’m hoping the same happens for my younger

That seems incorrect especially since the SAT is a great score.

I think for scholarships it’s only based on certain criteria, it used to be primarily test scores, although I think 1500 was the cutoff for $17,000.

Except UW GPA was the main factor.

Same here- OOS, similar stats, 4.6 weighted, 1470 SAT, sports, admitted to HC and offered $10K. Very frustrating and planning to appeal.

Does anyone know if you can get more merit after being accepted into the Honors College? I heard of someone getting an extra 5k to their merit as part of their Honors accpetance.

I had the same question during an accepted student event. Their answer was, students who are in Honors generally get more merit money than students who are not. BUT, they went on to say, Honors has no bearing on the amount of money you get.

If you are confused, so am I.

Bottom line, I don’t think they will add more merit money if/when you get accepted to Honors.

Did anyone elses letter date change in the financial aid portal? Mines letter now has todays date on it. I checked as someone told me they didn’t get an award before and today they did. Ours is the same amount though but wondering if anyone elses was updated to be more.

There was no extra merit last year for honor college acceptance. The only extra merit came from being selected as a Distinguished Scholar (100 chosen).

I believe you are correct - no extra merit for honors acceptance. Only if selected as a Distinguished Scholar.

The date on my D’s letter shows the current date every time I’ve looked at it, and the amount is always the same. Initially, before she received her snail mail offer, I took a screen shot of the offer just in case it “magically” changed to a lower dollar amount :joy:

Thank you so much for your post. I would have never known to look! Yes, had 0 merit since November and today there was a letter in the portal with an award. Keep checking.

Fantastic!

@ashley41 your post made me laugh.

My son’s merit $ amount looks the same as it did before, but I scrolled down and as part of the terms for keeping the scholarship each year, it looks like the minimum GPA is 3.0. I could have sworn before it was 2.5? (Although, I may be thinking of another school.) Am I dreaming up this change? LOL.

@amominnewjersey it’s a good day if I’ve made someone smile

I remember it being 3.0. My older child graduated from UD in 2015, and it was 3.0 back then too.

It’s been 3.0 for at least 2 years
