Class of 2025 Admissions DISCUSSION

Rolling admission is sometimes done before early action but at some point I believe they switch to early action as the forefront

Rolling is after EA decisions. If you would have selected the EA option he would have had a decision by Dec 24 - but since you chose rolling, he will hear by Jan 31st. It’s very confusing how they word it on the common app. Rolling is a modified rolling - so basically, apply by a certain date, hear by a certain date. EA decision date was by Dec 24. Priority or “rolling” is by the 31st of January.

Exactly - just got off with admissions for the same issue. They are being inundated with phone calls because people thought rolling submissions by 11/1 would be handled the same as EA.

Since this is more active if I pm someone an essay with a prompt can you review it. I took a huge risk with it

Thank you all for the replies. We will keep waiting it out.

Does anyone who applied ea and asked for reconsideration have any idea on when we will get those decisions? I asked to be reconsiderded for summer on 12/9.

I called today and the admissions officer said about 4 weeks

Awesome thank you so much!!

Hello ! My son has been accepted into the 2+2 starting at Altoona. He is hoping to be considered for Main Campus - does the admissions office consider the requests if he emails them? Has anybody already done this- advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you

My daughter also got 2+2 and had applied for Fall start to Univ Park in Liberal Arts. Like many people on this thread, it was a big surprise/disappointment and she didn’t even realize at first as she just saw the Congratulations. She is OOS from top public HS, 4.01 W GPA, 3.7 UW, tons of ECs and volunteer, employed since 9th grade, no test scores, advanced diploma, lots of APs and dual enrollment). She emailed yesterday to see about switching to summer start and DUS at Penn State as she isn’t sure of her major although thinks it will be in Liberal Arts. We had no idea the college of liberal arts was so much more competitive than DUS. She has not heard anything back yet nor has her application switched so we were planning to call if we don’t hear anything by the end of the week, although she is definitely hesitant after the rejection to call and has other great options. I think others have had success with calling though.

What major did he apply for?
Did he check “summer session”?

Has everybody who applied under Early Action before NOv 15th heard back from Penn State ?

Yes. EA accepted UP

Best of luck to all

(sorry, ignore my original post - thought I was in a different thread)

Has everybody who applied under Early Action before NOv 15th not yet heard back from Penn State ?

Nope app deffered due to application volume

We’re still waiting for official envelope to arrive and just wondering if it contains more info than what is posted on the portal which is pretty comprehensive. I.E. does it contain merit/aid info? TY!

No financial aid information in the packet we received. More general info stuff.

Thank you! I figured the aid info will come later.

He applied for and was granted admission to Electrical Engg. He called and spoke to the admissions office yesterday and was told to email them instead, which he did yesterday. We are waiting for a response now. He did ask if he can start in the summer instead if that helps his case in any way.
