class of o9: who's still torn between ED/EA possibilities??

^yeah it does i just checked. It says no other "early decision" programs. Interestingly, i also checked yale and they won't let you apply to places that give notice in december, which rules out penn

yeah Yale is SCEA. u can still apply to like safeties EA tho XD

yeah i thought scea allowed ED applications, just not other ea. yeah i was wrong.

You can still do one ED and as many EA as you like, as long as its EA, not SCEA.

are you allowed to ever withdraw your ED application? like..ask to get rejected?

ED means ED, and no, I'm not talking about erectile dysfunction.

The only exception is for financial reasons, e.g., you can't pay for it. Other than that, you are bound to said college.

fried rice in #24 - some schools will not let you apply ED unless you have no other applications in anywhere, even if you're committed to withdrawing them. I know it sounds kind of stupid (and how would anyone find out?), but that was the rule at a school my daughter looked at recently.

Well, yeah that true for some schools, but Narcissa asked specifically for UPenn, which allows you to ED to them and EA to as much schools as you like.

Also, Narcissa, I'm thinking about EDing to UPenn/LSM too, but my stats aren't as good as yours. lol

Georgetown has an EA policy that stipulates that you cannot apply to ED to any schools, but EA to any school you'd like.

lol i mean..before decisions come out. like, a month before decisions come out you email them and say "i hate Penn" will they reject u =)

Narcissa and jcll2002, you should be aware--if you're not already--that you can apply ED to LSM at Penn and, if you're not accepted to LSM, then be considered for admission to either Wharton or the College RD and not ED. In fact, when you select a single school option as an alternative to LSM, the default is that you will be considered for the single school RD, unless you specify that you also want to be considered for the single school ED.

So, you can apply to LSM ED and, if you're not accepted, still be considered for either Wharton or the College RD along with any other RD schools to which you apply, thereby keeping open all your non-LSM options (if Wharton or the College alone is not your definite first choice after LSM).

Yeah, i am a little torn. I was thinking of applying EA to BC, Georgetown, and UChicago but now i'm thinking questbridge might be the way to go. but hey, we still have a little while to decide!

questbridge? whats questbridge

^^Yea, what is that?

I think I'm gonna do EA Chicago and Plan II Honors at UT.
I can't afford ED :(

Questbridge is a scholarship program that gives a completely full ride to very low-income students at one of its partner colleges or universities (all are very prestigious).

You rank the schools you want, and then the highest ranked one you get into they will give you the money for it.

At least I think that's how it works, basically.

For a while I was decided with Northwestern, but now I'm 100% sure that I'm going to apply to WashU ED.

I'm applying EA to Uchicago and Northwestern

and RD to everywhere else.

EA to UMICH
RD everywhere else.

May I know what is LSM?

oops sorry, forgot that i have another question to ask.

What is the difference between ea and ed? is it true that for ea your grades have to be good while ed they care less about your grades?
