Class Rank

I go to School For Advanced Studies ( for those of you who dont know it a high school within a college and i take like 4 to7 college classes a semester along with the year long courses of AP U.S History AP English Lang Pre Calculus Gifted Honors and Executive Internship) in order to be in this school you have to have a minimun of a 3.0 GPA right now i have a 3.75 GPA by the time i graduate i will have 92 college credits) There is a program at the University of Miami called the Dual Degree Honors Program in Medicin in order to qualify i need to be in the top 5% of my graduating class. Do you think that even if i am not in the top 5% of my graduating class ( and i have a 3.75) that i have a really good chance of getting in to the program i have all the other requirments. On my SAT's I have recieved a 2400, on SAT Subject test in Math Lv2 and in Biology M i receieved an 800. I am just worided about the class rank, the reson my GPA is so low(3.75) is because i completly slacked of in freshmen year. But do you think with all this i would still have a really good chance of getting in even if i am not in the top 5% of my graduating class? thank you in advance

I don’t think the Rank will be an issue since you’re in a specialized type of school.

Of greater question to me is how colleges handle an applicant with 92 college credits before he sets foot on campus… how do they decide which credits are acceptable, and how do they decide to look at you as a Freshman applicant or a Transfer applicant???

I’m not so sure, I 've seen kids at top school denied things over and over by state schools that have cast in stone rules. The only way to know for sure is to ask directly.

^ Miami is a private school. They don’t have hard formulas and such that some large publics do.

I asked and they said i would still apply as a freshmen. Becuase i am going to graduate highschool with my associates degree so they can not deny any of my credits and all of the classes i am taking would be classes that would go towards my major so they told me they would have no problem accepting them so i will be a freshmen technicaly but i will have enough credits to go straight into the core classes i need for my major which is pretty sweet
