I have about a 3.75 GPA and I think I am in about the top 17 or 18 percent of my class. Does anybody think this is strange? Isn’t 3.75 pretty good? It just seems like it I should be in a higher percentile in my class. I guess I just go to a very difficult high school. Anyway, can some of you post your GPA’s and your percentiles? I just want to know what the average high school’s 10th percentile cuts off at.

I have similar situation but it seems even worse...
3.9 GPA and top 25% :(
10% cuts off at 4.6 or 4.7

3.7333333 UW = 12 Percent

Ha, I have a 3.5 UW and I'm just barely in the top 25%.

What a friggin joke :|

4.0 12% =p

i had i 3.80 last semester. a 3.50 UW and i'm in the top 7%

This is why weighted grades are silly. They make GPAs all funny and then colleges ask for your unweighted info anyway.

At my school the #1 student happens to not take a single hard class, but the rest of the top have all been strong IB students. The classes may be harder, but the grades are still much better on average than in the normal level classes.

at my school you get an extra .2 added to your GPA for the semester for each honors or AP class you take. So I have a 3.7 uw, but a 4.8 weighted (IB TOK is half-weighted because we meet every other day). That puts me at about top 3%, but someone with a 3.7 uw and no honors classes would probably be in about the top 30%.

3.97
Salutatorian

3.99 unweighted, one B in freshman PE... 17 out of 175.

lol. and my school does it so everyone w/ 4.0 is rank 1. ONe b in P.E. in freshman year cost me 16 ranks~~ will colleges know the school's ranking system?

when everyone and their mom has As, it's called grade inflation...

my HS didn't rank, but I'd say there were a lot of kids in no hard classes with 3.8s etc that would have "ranked" above kids in the IB program. Which is complete crap and why class rank doesn't tell the whole story.

So, to answer your question, I have no idea where the percentiles cut off at my HS, but I would guess around 3.7-3.8
