Freshman year I went to a school with a harder grading scale and didn't have a class rank. Sophomore year I transferred to another school with the usual grading scale and it did provide a class rank. Since I experienced two different grading scales and did not have a class rank freshman year but did sophomore/junior year at a different school, will I have to submit my class rank on the U of I application? I wasn't sure if I had to or not since it doesn't cover my full high school education.

Ask if Class Rank is on the transcripts that your current school sends to colleges. If it isn’t, you don’t have to report it. If it is, then they’ll know anyway.

We had no idea my daughter’s class rank and guessed. They truly look at grades and ACTs. If they are out of wack they may pay more attention to class rank.

I would always recommend getting a copy of the transcripts, unofficial as it might be, in order to know exactly what is on what they’re sending out. Also, the applicant is ultimately responsible for making sure that all components of the application have been received by the colleges to which he/she is applying. Having that unofficial copy of your transcripts might be accepted in a pinch, if the college still has not received your official high school transcripts by the deadline. It was in my daughter’s case.
