Hey I was just wondering if class rank plays a huge roll in the admissions process...
I'm not first in my class by any means (40/546) but I was wondering if they look at class rank at all or a lot.
Any input would be great!

i listened to an admissions officer speak a few weeks ago and he said they dont consider class rank or gpa (unless its ridiculously low, i would assume) as schools nationwide do not have a set standard on them. for example ive heard of people with gpas of over 8. also he said class rank wasnt really important becuase often enough its about .05 that separates 3rd from 43rd. instead he said they would look at your transcript and see how well you did in each of your classes; ie tough courses and excellent grades in them. i'm in about the same boat as you so this information made me very happy. the officer also noted that so long as you meet minimums (nothing exactly standard, just kind of an, ok, this kid isnt going to flunk out, theyre very bright) on test scores and transcripts, you will be considered. whats more important are your essays, teacher recs, interview, and extracurriculars.

o wow thanks so much
Actually, my school just sent me the updated version of class ranks and im now 25th, even with a c+ in an honors math class....go figure
well good luck...hope we both get in!!
