class rank..

is yale going to just throw my application away away since my rank is around only in the top 25-30%. i've looked at everyones stats and it seems that nearly everyone is #1 in their class.

my gpa freshman year and first semester sophomore was my downfall... but since then i've had a significant upward trend. 2.9 to a 4.2. i've always had the potential to do well and have finally done so, and i'm willing to explain this in my essay if possible.

opinions? please and thank youu. :)

If you had a legitimate reason for the low GPA way back when, make sure you explain it and that your counselors/teachers help explain too.

I am not number one in my class because our class rank isn't weighted. I am actually #30 in a class of about 400, but they likely considered that I have taken pretty much all the APs in the school and did well in them.

As long as you challenged yourself, you have a shot.

yeah i think i've done a fair job with challenging myself. i've already written a statement about why my grades weren't so excellent, and i have no doubt i can get some great recommendations since at my school students and teachers have a really close relationship.

thanks for the encouragement, i'm just going to make sure i do everything i can to keep the grades higher. and hopefully my personal qualities and test scores will help me a little too :)

nothing is impossible. just be you, and if it's meant to be, it'll happen. good luck!
