Class Registration

I will have to say UD needs to improve there class registration process.

Now I understand classes are only offered a few times and I need to complete a matrix with out conflicts but there is no option to see all the class options. In filling out a matrix you would want to fill out the most restrictive classes first and also arrange it for an efficient class day. For example I would not want a class, an hour break, a class, an hour break, etc.

Regarding restrictive classes, Math 168 is only offered at 1:00 PM M-F. Now I can't believe this is the only time. What did everyone test out Math 168 (Calculus 1)? In my case the first screen ask for English and I happen to pick 1:00 p.m. On the forth screen I find I must take Math 168 at 1:00 p.m.. So I have to go back to screen #1 and change English. But as I go back I lose everything.

Then I get to Physic 206 and would like to take it at 8:00 a.m. and it is available. Now there is an 8:00 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. MTWHF class offering and an 8:00 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. MTWF class offering. Now how can one teacher can teach the course in four 50 min classes a week and another teacher needs five 50 min classes a week. I don't think so. Something is wrong. Now I am thinking maybe one was 8:00 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. so I need to go back and check, oops lose everything again.
.

See if there is somewhere to provide this kind of feedback on the system. Maybe the Dean’s office? It shouldn’t be hard to modify the software to keep entries.

I also did find out depending what LLC you pick sometimes eliminates a class.

e.g. My son wanted to take history at 10:00 a.m. and it was not offered electronically because he did not pick the corresponding LLC that was assigned to this time slot.

Bottom line my son schedule is perfect and it is perfect because I was able to talk to a person. So this is why you pick smaller universities.

I still think the electronic registration process can impose unnecessary restrictions and it was all cleared up when i did a paper matrix

Where are you viewing the schedule? Are you on porches, or registering for a freshman through VO?

What is VO?

I learned about course offering through a google search that lead me to “Schedulizer”

How do I view my sons course? Porches show we have not registered since i did it via phone. I just want to verify it went through.

^ok you’re on porches then. VO is Virtual Orientation and it’s how I registered two years ago- they might have gotten rid of it. What you’re describing isn’t what I did.

Your son will need to log into porches and look under the Academics tab. Then you will see a “Student Schedule” link. You choose a semester to view (choose Fall 2012) and your son’s schedule should be there. If you registered him via a phone call it might take a while to go through. Keep checking and call the Dean if you don’t see it in another week.

Schedulizer is just a tool some students use to see their potential schedules laid out visually.
