Class Scheduling for Science Majors

For this upcoming Fall semester, I have to take Human Bio (4 credits) and General Chem (5 credits). How did you all schedule your classes along with your gen ed classes? Did you have a plan? What did your schedule look like? I'm kinda afraid of being overwhelmed. TIA!

To tell you the truth it takes a lot of planning. I'm a biology major planning on Grad School, so I basically had to plan out what classes I wanted to take from Day 1. There's some flexability, of course, but planning everything out really helps figure out how you are going to accomplish all classes needed for your major + all other requirements.

Freshman year, first semester I took Bio 101, Chem 101, a diversity requirement course, and a seminar course all Freshman had to take. It's better to get required classes out of the way early on (or do them if you go abroad - lots of abroad courses seem to satisfy requirements - all the more reason to start planning now).

Don't worry about being overwhelmed. As a science major though, prepare for a good 6+ hours more class time (due to labs) than your friends. Don't sweat it though - you'll pull through. Everyone always does. :)

The recommended coursework for the first semester usually works out fine, and then by the time the second semester rolls around you'll have met people from your prospective major who can tell you what to take.
The key to scheduling for science classes is looking first at the ones you have to take for your major (which won't conflict ever unless you're doing something weird) and then filling in your general education requirements as you go along. If it sounds simple enough that's because it really is. ;)
