ok so i checked again, basically all the classes i need to take are already near full, and i wont register until the Second CalSo for transfers...

are they gonna add more classes? do transfers get any priority in signing up for classes?

ALSO,

since i'm econ major i have to apply my first semester but i still need to complete 11 units in pre-reqs yet at phase 1 calso i can only sign up for 10.5 units

you should be able to sign up for 11 units at calso and then the rest of your classes during phase II; the reason why the classes are almost full is because almost all of us have already signed up for our phase I classes, you should be fine in the classes that have 85/100 since we (present students) are waiting for phase II for additional classes. your calso date is before phase II starts, so you should be fine w/ at least some of your classes.

you might have to wait list a couple of classes so just show up and it shouldn't be too long before they add you. They usually do not add another class when its full.

I need to sign up for Econ 101A, which has 7/60 spots available (for new students), and 20 on the waiting list. The problem is that I have the fourth CalSO, since I'm on the quarter system and the first three either conflict with midterms or finals. Do you think I'll be able to get in, and if I can't, will I get placed at the end of the waiting list or is the waiting list system more complex than that? I could also take Econ 100A or 100B to get into the major, but I need 101A for my grad school plans.

wait lists are complicated, it doesn't matter what spot you are in becuase they pull from the wait lists according to things like what year you are, seniors have priority and then Jr. etc. Also the reason why they have classes open w/ people on a wait list is because those in that major always have priority. I would take classes necessary to declare the major first since classes are like that every semester and if you have not declared, you will find it difficult getting into certain classes. It gets really old being wait listed all the time.

max units for phase I is 10.5
if you're planning on taking a PE class, which is always 0.5 units, you should sign up because those fill up pretty fast

reading and composition classes fill up fast too... but most of you are probably done with that requirement

dont give up on a class if you're going to be waitlisted... for phase II people might start dropping classes and making changes... and then later you might even get added on if you just show up to class for a while...
