classes and professors.. etc.

hi!
I have several questions about some classes and the professors teaching those classes.

I’m trying to take 102i in the fall semester but wonder if taking 102i is necessarily better than taking regular 102. Does 102i really help with our intended majors (me-econ)? is it also okay taking 102i not based on my major but interests? Has anyone taken writing in humanities or social sciences? If you have, which professor did you have??

I hear that econ classes at UNC are pretty hard but how are the professors in general? according to the course search engine, prof. McCallie, Aguilar, Byrns, and Salemi are in charge of econ 101 for the fall… (and I need to take econ 101)

Has anyone taken Multivariable Calculus with prof. Mucha, Cima, Wogen, Taylor, Williams, Varchenko?

what are intramural sports like? I’m not an athelete but want to play a sport in college. Is there intramural triathlon at UNC? anyone doing triathlon? @.@

there is no real advantage or disadvantage to taking 102i. I had writing in social sciences and it sucked, but dont let that dissaude you from taking it, I just hate writing classes. And yeah its fine to take 102i based on your interests, it will not make any difference at all. They just care that you get credit for a 102 course.

Econ classes are kind of difficult, for me they’ve been my easiest classes but just because econ is what I’m interested in. Byrns is the guy to take hands down. First of all he is interesting and a really good person to know. He also grades extremely easy. He drops half the quizzes and online homeworks and heavily curves your final grade if you show any improvement on test scores. The key to getting an A is giving some effort in the class and getting to know him. Salemi is a tough grader. I hear good things about augilar and know nothing of mccallie.

Byrns is definitely known as the best for Econ.

Intramural sports are great and always a lot of fun. Try browsing the Campus Recreation website to see what’s available.

Don’t take Cima for Math 233. My roommate had him for a class and said he was awful and that the only redeeming quality about him was the fact that he sounded like Herbert from Family Guy (which got old after about 3 days).
