I had econ 101 with Salemi my first semester last year. He is a great teacher but also a total jerk. The man is on a power trip. Don't expect to get to know the guy because 1. the class is huge, 2. he doesn't want to get to know his students.

His class isn't hard, he makes it more conceptual than some of the other teachers, but i felt like that helped a lot. So I guess I'd recomend him

My cousin, a 2001 grad, jokingly said to me that there is no such thing as a good Econ 101 professor.

I'm in section 008 on TR with Salemi right now, but the reason I signed up for the class was because I thought it was required and not just recommended for my major (journalism). Considering there are about 17 million classes I'm interested in besides this one that would fulfill my SS credit, I'm planning to drop it.

You really have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself though-- would you rather deal with his ego and very little office hour help for an easier load and a more balanced schedule, or would you take on more work and a lopsided schedule for more outside help and an easier personality?

aah I'm confused, but I dont like arrogant professors. I know that at times I'll have to deal with people like that, but when I have a choice, I think I would lean towards rita balaban.
