Classes and What buildings they are in

I am trying to figure out what buildings my classes are in. I have 4 classes that say BU (assuming the business school, im in northwest so thats good). Then I have one that says RH, one FQ, and lastly SW???? Anyone know what/where buildings those are???? Thanks

Foster Quadrangle, Rawles Hall and Swain Hall West. Use the drop down window on this page and look for the initials to find the name of the building:

You got any 8am classes mike?

man i do, my english 170 class :(

hahaha, you went to EARLY ORIENTATION, like first week, how did you get 8am?!?! my earliest is our accounting class we got.

grr i got an 8 am class :( its that K204. when me and my advisor finished the meeting it was supposed to be the 9 AM class...

and it got CLOSED?!?!

GRRR. nothing after 2:15 though except good old K204 on thursday.

i didnt have a choice! the only times were in the morning. my advisor said i didnt have to take it but writing is important for college so i decided to do 170 cuz 131 seems too easy and not really helpful.

Why wouldn't you take an easy class?!?!?! lol

Because easy can be boring. My son got stuck taking the lower level English class because he was technically a sophomore second semester, and sophomores can't take the higher level (makes no sense to me, but...). He said 131 was very formulaic and very boring. So you are smart to take the 170!

see :), besides if i want to be a good candidate for jobs later on they will see what classes i took. easy or challenging..

Wolves, didn't you test up in anything? (heheeee!) My son was encouraged to take 170 because the other would be too easy for him, so he's taking that class, too.

We didn't have to take an English placement test at orientation, so I took the one that wasn't 4 credit hours, haha. Gutjahr has good ratings though on ratemyprof, and he is the one that does 170, but i'm all for the easy A. I don't care if it's boring, boring to me means bringing a laptop to class and going online and checking my fantasy teams, or listening to music, or sleeping. And i'm getting the A anyways. I hate english too, gotten B-/C+ grades in the AP/AC classes at my school, so it would be nice for an A in the class for a change.

You may not have had to take an English placement test, but based on what your ACT score was for English, what your classes were in h.s. and how you did in them, they made recommendations. It sounds like that wasn't your best class, so they wouldn't have recommended 170 anyway.

i think my earliest class is around 9:30am. i dont mind waking up early. i orignally signed up for w131, but then later decided to switch into W170 (swimming the data streams, about technology and stuff). Hopefully it wont be too hard. I got a 590 verbal SAT. What did the advisors recommend?

well if u exempt from w131 ( get a act english score of 30+ or an sat verbal 700+) and you say u still want to take an english course then the advisors recommend that you take 170 since 131 is too "easy"

My SAT verbal was a 550 and my ACT verbal was a 25, so it's not my strong point, lol. My average grade in HS for English was a B, I want to get an A! Science was equally as bad, but on the ACT, I somehow got a 35 on the Science section, don't ask why, it just seemed real easy.

will w170 meet the same requirement as W131. If i take w170 thats meets the english requirement, correct? i figured if i take w170 ill be more interested in it if it is about technology? a2wolves, r u taking w131?

Dcho, r u sure the advisors said to take w170 only if u have 700+ verbal sat? then maybe i shouldnt have switched

I'm taking W131. I didn't want to have 4 hours of English a week. And "Projects in Reading and Writing" sounded harder and more reading than "Elementary Composition", haha. Both meet the mandatory English requirement.

Mike321, you don't have to have above 700 on the Verbal SAT to take 170. (I think Dcho was just saying that anyone with a high Verbal score would be totally bored by 131.) My son didn't have over 700, but he still would have much preferred to take 170, if they would have let him. (rules, rules) Stay where you are; I'm sure you will be fine.

yea wut susantm said, they just RECOMMEND or LET YOU KNOW that 131 might be too "easy" for you if you have high sat or act verbal scores (700 or higher). they assume that if you got exemption from w131 through testing and you still WANT to take a english class then they say 170 is more apropriate to take. yea 170 fulfills same requirement as 131..
