Classes don't match up to engineering major

I am currently a Junior and wish to major in mechanical engineering during college because I am not only passionate about it, but believe I will enjoy it as a career. The only issue however is that during high school I have not been exactly getting the greatest grades in the classes that pertain to mechanical engineering.
My current GPA is 3.77, which is alright I guess, but my math and science gpa is about a 3.55. To be precise here are my math and science grades

Freshman year: 1st sem + 2nd sem
Honors Geometry - B...........C
Honors Biology - A............B

Sophomore year: 1st sem + 2nd sem
Honors Pre-Calc - A...........A
Honors Chem - A............A

Junior year: 1st sem
AP Biology - A
AP Calc - B
Honors Physics A

Senior Year I will take AP Computer Science, AP Chem, and Engineering Concepts to counter the lack of engineering related classes

So please tell me, will these grades affect me quite a bit in acceptance to engineering schools? Even the third tier schools.

Also should I take SAT II's? I ask because rarely do people in the midwest take SAT's, rather the ACT where I am actually strongest in math and science. I expect to get an overall score of 32 on the ACT if that matters.

My goal in college acceptance is to get into UIC as a safety, then I can rest easy and any other schools I get accepted to such as UIUC, Iowa State, or Purdue would be awesome.

Thank you very much.

I think you will get in somewhere decent if you work hard to get good grades for the next semesters, good test scores and get involved in things to show your passion for math, science and/or engineering.

The ACT is kind of typical if you are applying for these midwest schools, so I would just push to get great scores on that!

Good luck!

Look at the requirements for Iowa State. It should be an automatic admit for you. Just skip UIC. Relax. Plan to take calc again in college. Frankly, you’ll probably get into all of your schools, though UIUC is only a match.

You took 2 AP classes last year. How did you do on the AP test’s? If you did well that shows the colleges that you learned the material.

You’re good, don’t worry. Your grades are a little low in Geometry but it’s freshman year. Colleges won’t focus on it and it’s not indicative of your ability to be a good engineer.

I took AP Micro Econ and AP Gov sophomore year

I got 4’s on both but I got A+'s in the class haha

Many engineering schools require you to submit two SAT subject tests. You need to check the requirements of each school you are interested in.
