Grades related to intended major

I have a desire to major in mech engineering, and I do know it's for me. The only problem I have is that my A- and B from the last semester are directly related to it. (This last semester of junior year) A- in Hon. Physics and B in AP Calc AB. The rest of the grades are A's. Will it hurt me in college admissions? Will I still be able to safely get into 3rd tier schools? (I'll provide my info shortly) I still hope that these grades can be somewhat overlooked as they are honors and AP

Additional info:

UW GPA: 3.8
ACT: 32
Rank: Top 5%
4 AP classes this year, 10 by the end of high school
Slightly above average EC's
no hooks

If it matters, University of Illinois, Chicago is my safety. From there it only gets tougher (Perdue, Iowa State, IIT, UIUC)

Actually, IIT and Iowa State are not much tougher than UIC…

UIC: Safety
Iowa State: Low match
IIT: Low match
Purdue: Low match
UIUC: Match

Why don’t you apply to some higher ranked ones that you like? Unless you specifically want to go to those, you should. I think that you are underestimating yourself.

Maybe the deadlines for reaches in MechE have passed…
