Classes for Next School Year

Hey guys,
I am just trying to get an understanding on the sorts of classes I should be looking to take for my junior year. A bit about myself, I am very very interested in business and economics and am active in the stock market and have started a business set to do a bit under $100,000k in revenue this year. I plan to apply to UVA, Colgate, Northeaster, Babson, Villanova, Syracuse, Pitt and PSU.

I have signed up to take AP US history, Honers English, Honers Chem, Alg 2, Accounting I, Business Law and Marketing. I consider myself to be an average student, but think I have an edge in the admissions process given my relative success in the business world from a young age. I also have vast connections in the business world from top companies such as IBM, Dell, NCR and Barnes & Nobel who will all write me recommendations.

My current dilemma, is whether or not I should take a language next year. I dont mind French, but I need to spend a lot of time working on it and I feel as though I could be more productive by dedicating that time toward other classes or taking an additional course in it's place. I appreciate your time and help with this!

All the best,
Quinn

What level have you reached of French? If you have not reached level 3, it is pretty much a must. If you haven’t done 4 (or AP whatever your school offers), it is recommended but definitely not required. I would really recommend it though if you are going into business.

thanks. I did french I in 8th grade, then switched to Spanish freshman year, but then wanted to go back to french and retook french I this year.

Well, if your entire foreign language experience is French I and Spanish I, I’d continue with one of those next year.

Then I would definitely do it. In your case, you should try to reach level 3 by the time you graduate, but the fact that you took a year of spanish will help for schools that want level 4 (they won’t hold it against you).
