so do you go to the discussion section even though the lecture hasn't started yet?

yep, unless they tell you otherwise

What is zero week for?

its worthless. I honestly don't go to discussions zero week. In my experience, they are either cancelled and the TA never shows up or they do absolutely nothing during time besides maybe talk a little about the professor/class.

Alright.
So, technically, I don't start class until the 2nd.

Zero week helps balance out Thanksgiving in order to keep the number of instructional days relatively constant between quarters. It also gives profs a chance to get all of the administrative/introductory crap out of the way without feeling guilty about wasting a "true" lecture day. Then they can really go at it starting in week 1.

classes start next thursday

I've never had discussions actually end up happening during zero week but I've heard of it happening. Your TA should email you this weekend or thereabouts to let you know.

Hahah. Yay for no discussions this quarter. Such an exciting schedule.

/And yeah, they start thursday, but if you don't have any thursday or friday classes then you don't start until the 2nd.

So if classes start on thursday, we go to all the classes we have that day?

Yeah unless you get an email saying otherwise.
