Classes suggestions? (International Business)

I’m going to be a freshman at IU next year as DA into Kelley. I’m trying to start planning what courses I would like to take before I go for orientation. I plan to major in International Business and either Management/Public Policy. I have the following credits from CC or AP classes:
ENG-W 131EX
HIST-H 105
HIST-H 106
ECON-E 201
ECON-E 202

SPEA-E 272

POLS-UN 100
MATH-M 211

MATH-M 212

Depending on this years AP scores, I should have credit for CSCI UNDI, PSY-P 101, STAT-S 300

I understand that I am required to take Business Presentations, Basic Accounting and Finite Math and will probably take honors if I have the option. What other classes would be recommended for me?

You need to complete all of these classes by the end of your sophomore year:

http://bulletins.iu.edu/iub/kelley-ugrad/2013-2014/program-details/course-degree-req/i-core-prereq.shtml

And all of these requirements to graduate:

http://gened.indiana.edu/Students/requirements.html

(Click “View the full list of Common Ground requirements”)

You should take a mix of courses from these 2 areas.

@iubaccounting Thanks. Are there any specific courses you found more helpful than others your freshman year?

Not really. You will have to take all of the I-Core prereqs at some point, so it doesn’t really matter which ones you take as a freshman as long as you have the prereqs for the class completed. Also, know that just because a class is listed in “taken in 2nd year” in the link above, doesn’t mean you can’t take it as a freshman. I took both G202 and D270 2nd semester of my freshman year.

I suggest taking a class that double counts for A&H and World Culture credit each semester of your freshman year to finish up your gen eds, and fill in the rest of your schedule with whichever I-Core prereqs work best with your schedule. Use http://gradedistribution.registrar.indiana.edu/ to check grade distributions for classes, and ratemyprofessors.com to check professor ratings when choosing classes.

I recommend taking the honors versions of business presentations (C106) and computer in business (K204) at some point freshman year. You will likely have a better team in the honors versions, and the courses are essentially the same aside from that. Honors classes can be hit or miss. Some are good to take, but others like K304 and C205 are significantly harder and more time-consuming than the regular versions.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.
