I am a direct admit at Kelley, and aside from the typical A100, K201, etc. what are some classes that I should take such as gen eds or whatever else is needed?

I would like some advice as well on the same thing. As of now, I’m going to be a Finance/International business major and am leaving for orientation tomorrow and I need suggestions!

I think this is a good freshman fall semester schedule for business majors doing the 27-credit hour core who need two N&M classes. Psychology is a fairly easy N&M class that does not require a lab (Vachlos-Webber, Sklar, and Thomassen are the easiest graders). A110 is an introduction to Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, html and a few other useful things. It counts as a N&M class in Kelley ONLY if you take it BEFORE taking K201 or K204. A110 grades easily, teaches useful skills, and is a good introduction to the subject matter of K201 and K204 (take one of these your second semester at IU).

I think 13 credits is plenty for a first semester freshman who is getting acclimated to being away from home and college life.

BUS X104 Business Presentations (3 cr.)
M118 or M119 Finite Math or Calculus (3 cr.)
CSCI A110 Intro to computing (3 cr.)
PYCH P101 Intro to Psychology (3 cr.)
BUS XA100 Intro Accounting (1 cr.)

Whatever you do, don’t take BUS X104 and BUS K201 the same semester, as group work is required for both and taking them at the same time will be a pain for arranging times to meet. Also, take A100 first eight weeks in case you need to re-take it second eight weeks.

The only tough grading classes on this schedule are A100 and whichever math you take, but these are required for Icore. If a direct admit, I would take finite at a CC in the summer because of the tough grading and the huge classes.

Another thing to keep in mind… if you plan on minoring in a foreign language, you would follow the field specialization option and your language classes would fulfill the gen ed requirement.
