Has anyone taken this class here, and if so, how easy is it? Does grading all depend on the GSI or the professor?

Quizes by prof, essays by gsi

I took it and it was pretty easy. Based on info from friends who took other Freshman year writing courses ClCiv101 assigned fewer essays and the subject sounded more interesting than the other courses imo. There were 3 essays which got progressively longer.

There were quizzes which were simple, multiple choice, and short. The final was an exam with multiple choice and a few mini-essays.

Quizzes were given by the GSI during section and the exams were taken in the lecture hall with the prof but the GSI graded those too if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the replies. Also, just wondering if you guys thought all the books were necessary? There are something like 7-8 books that I need to buy, and I was hoping to save some money

If you look at the syllabus for this class on c-tools, you’ll see that we do hit all the books listed at some point during the semester, so you should probably get them all. Don’t worry too much though: with the exception of the main textbook by Pomeroy, all the other books can be bought for less than $8 each on amazon.
