Hey I was wondering if there are any GE (Letters and Science student) classes where your overall grade is based on writing essays (more like take-home essays) instead of taking regular in-class exams (chem, math, etc). I took an English class where 3 take-home essays were basically your grade for the class and I was wondering if there was something like that for a GE class. :>

Yeah, Intro to Chicano Studies with Aveila. It's not offered spring however...

A couple of threads back, namaste wrote a thread about checking syllabi... so perhaps you can take a look at old syllabi of classes you're interested in and figure it out?

Does anyone know about the "Exam Code 30" rule in regards to take-home finals/essays?

Final Examination Code: 30

one hidden gem GE that is REALLY REALLY easy and pretty interesting is WAC 22. It deals with folklore. THe class is composed of 3 papers (take home, and around 3 pgs double spaced) and one midterm and one final. The thing with the exams is, its basically a vocabulary exam (EXTREMELY easy) and all the terms on the exam are given to you ahead of time (which the TA's help you with).

highly recommend WAC 22 for the literary analysis requirement.

I've heard good things about that class too. Not just the easy part...it's suppose to be mildly interesting also. :)

please tell me the full name.

World Arts and Cultures 22: Introduction to American Folklore

it's not offered this spring or summer...but very likely in the fall. oh, just a tip, the class offered PTE numbers last quarter..so assuming it stays the same.. if you don't get in right away...don't worry too much.

shoooo :< thanks everyone.
