Clemson Early Sucess Program

How does one get considered for this program? Does this program mean you get to attend Clemson in the fall?

My current roommate participated in the Early Success Program. This program is by invitation only (I’m guessing for people who just barely got accepted and were nearly denied admissions). If you are denied admissions to Clemson, you can appeal to be put into ESP (which is what my roommate did and was successful).

Requirements of ESP
Attend ESP Freshman Orientation session
Attend 2009 second summer session and enroll in the prescribed common curriculum.
Live in on-campus housing during the summer
Enroll in no more than 14 hours during the fall and spring semesters, including ESP CU 101, University Success Skills, in fall
Attend tutoring, supplemental instruction, faculty help sessions and/or library study hall for at least ten hours each week.
Meet regularly with the ESP advisor.
Attend all required ESP workshops.

If you have any questions, let me know and I can pass them on to my roommate!

I recently submited the appeal form for Clemson, but I did not request consideration for ESP. I will probably just wait on the results of the appeal and then depending on what happens call admissions and see if I can request for ESP. I was accepted to the Bridge program and I was wondering if your roomate was accepted to the Bridge program before the appeal. Also I would like to know how your roomate approached the appeal. Thanks for the quick response Pierre!

I don’t think my roommate was accepted to the Bridge Program, I think he was straight up rejected since he never mentioned anything about being accepted to the Bridge Program

How long did it take to repsond to the appeal?

hmm no idea, I’ll see if I can ask him about that (He’s never around haha)

Please also ask him what he did to convince Clemson. Thanks a bunch Pierre!

Yankee13, My son is finishing up the Bridge Program this year and will cross over to Clemson in the fall. One of his classmates was accepted to Bridge last year, appealed the decision and was offered a January Clemson admittance. He chose to stay with the Bridge Program. Just thought I’d let you know what a possible outcome could be. Best wishes no matter which avenue you take!

I am so excited just got reccomended to ESP…So I got to schedule an interview, fill out some forms, and etc. So hopefully I will be a Clemson Tiger next year!!!

So Pierre can you ask your roomate about the interview? Thanks!

haha congrats on ESP! ok so yes I will ask him about the interview (i still haven’t had a chance yet, its the last week of rush for his fraternity so he hasn’t been around forever)

I still think I have to write 2 essays and counselor recommendation for ESP so basically im not out of the woods yet. The ESP process is harder than applying to Clemson hahahaha…My question is can they reject you still at thi point hope not lol.

Any luck Pierre? I have that interview on Monday!

nope sorry! I’m in Atlanta for the weekend hanging out at Georgia Tech for the Clemson baseball series so I won’t be getting back till tomorrow night :(

btw, Georgia Tech fans are some of the rudest fans I’ve ever met. They need to cheer for their team not against the other team. They started chanting “4th and 2” during the baseball game today (reference to us losing to them in football in the fall) and after we lost they started chanting “just like tampa” (another football reference, wrong sport guys). The guy in front of me was also laughing at how our baseball coach burned down his own house which I thought wasn’t very appropriate. And lastly, during the 7th inning they don’t sing “take me out to the ballgame”, they sing “dead skunk in the middle of the road” haha

Pierre have you talked to your room mate I want some personal insight on the program?

Yankee- Not Pierre, but I have a relative that went through ESP at Clemson. The interview is basically a formality, unless you somehow blow it. It consisted primarily of the person in charge of the program, Casey Berkshire (sp?) explaining the program, letting the student know that she will be watching and observing them and that they CANNOT screw up if they want to be a student at Clemson. This program is excellent and you are fortunate to have been accepted into it. Hope this helps.

Thanks lynned hopefully I get the accetance package soon so I can be for sure.

Paid my deposit…I am going to be a Clemson Tiger this Fall!!!

congrats!!!

Congrats! ESP is wonderful program!
