So I was just accepted to Clemson for nursing with a 4.4 GPA, 34 on my ACT, and a plethora of extracurriculars . While my acceptance letter did not indicate any merit based scholarship, I was a bit surprised as I thought my credentials would get me at least some type of merit based financial aid. When logging into my iROAR, however, I noticed that I had not signed my FERPA consent (which I’m not even sure how I was supposed to have access to before receiving my admissions letter) and it had been requested from Clemson 5 days prior. After accepting, my “Accept Award Offer” tab showed a long statement about how they were “pleased to offer you the awards listed below” and asked me to accept the terms and conditions but there was no terms and conditions box and no awards listed. Has this happened to anyone else?
Call the financial aid office. They are very helpful and so great to work with.
I have tried calling multiple times, each time during their “phone hours” that are listed on the website, but they haven’t answered and said something in the voicemail about their phone hours being only on Wednesdays?
Did you apply by December 1? Not sure if you are in state or out of state, but for out of state, I believe you also have to be either the top 10 or top 15% of your class. Try the net price calculator on the Clemson website and see if it shows anything. Congratulations on your acceptance!
@xn3mom I’m OOS and my school doesn’t do class rank. I read somewhere that Clemson does their own calculations to find ‘class rank’. I’m assuming I did not receive any merit money, as it was not in my acceptance letter. Just a bit throw off because most of my OOS friends with any ACT over a 30 and around the same GPA as me received some sort of merit based scholarship
@bigboiii My son had the same exact experience from the FERPA consent, to the “award letter” that awarded nothing. Confirmed with financial aid this morning that he was not awarded merit. OOS, 31 ACT, school does not rank.
My son is in the same boat. OOS, 35 ACT, 3.87 Weighted GPA. From a very competitive HS that does not rank. Really disappointed that no merit aid received.
@MomMartha did he apply after Dec 1?
I believe the FERPA is signed before the federal student loans are loaded into your account. For those who don’t know what it is, google FERPA and there is a lot of information on it from the government.
