I'm currently a Junior year in HS. My first two years of HS were terrible. I didn't apply myself at all and was caught up in the whole "I'm in High School, you can't tell me a thing" phase. Now those days has caught up to me and I'm in fear of my future. I want to attend Clemson University but I'm afraid that I've dug myself into a hole I can't recover from. Do you think I have a chance based on this :

2.1 GPA
2120 - SAT
30 - ACT
3.8 GPA (current year)
INSTATE
Alumni Relation - (5 family members in the last 10 years)
Minority

I would visit Clemson and make an appointment to meet with an Admissions officer (not just take the regular tour). Talk to him or her about your history, how you’ve turned things around, and why you want to attend Clemson.

Just do the best that you can from here on and out and if you get the grades the last 2 years that Clemson is looking for, you’ll get a shot (if not, transferring into Clemson would be your best option). Definitely have to get more serious because you are going to have to get a lot higher grades than you have been getting. Your SAT/ACT scores are very good though

Is that GPA unweighted? It’s not THAT bad. My daughter got in with a 3.05 unweighted and a 2050 SAT. Is there anything you can do to bring up your GPA? I’m from OOS so I’m not sure how it works in South Carolina, but here, you can retake a class in which a D or F was received, for grade forgiveness. Basically, the new grade replaces the old grade. You can do it through online classes. Is there anything like that there? Another thing some people do is take dual enrollment courses at community college over the summer. Again, don’t know what the requirements are for that where you live (Here, you have to have a 3.0 unweighted to qualify for that, which you won’t even after this year). Junior year grades are the most important, though, so it’s good that yours went up rather than down. Good luck!

Ah I was reading this over quickly and missed the 3.8 GPA for your junior year. Well congrats then! That’s a real good improvement. If you can show you can keep this up through the first half of senior year you’ll have a shot at Clemson.
