Hi everyone,
I just found out today that I was wait listed to Clemson University which is my #1. I have been accepted to Alabama, Auburn, UT, Ole Miss and UNC-Chapel Hill. I live in NC so for Clemson I am OOS and I was just wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to proceed. I would just like to know my chances of getting off the wait list and if it is possible to hear back early (before May). Also, is there anything I can do to improve my chances of being taken off the wait list? Thanks for any information!
Some statistics…
1170 SAT, CR,M and W is an 1850.
4.41 Weighted GPA
AP Courses taken.
According to this post, there is no way to know your rank on the waitlist or how many will be accepted. Final decisions also do not come out until mid-may. However, some posters were accepted in April according to this thread. It probably just depends how many and when people decline Clemson and free up spots.
Congratulations on your other acceptances though! You have some great schools to choose from regardless of whether or not Clemson accepts you.
@ncstandard22 sounds like we’re in the same situation; waitlisted at Clemson, admitted to LSU, Auburn, etc. Also in NC. Clemson has been first choice for years. Would really like to get into Clemson.
@ncstandard22 I’m quite confused. Very surprised to hear you got into Chapel Hill but wait listed at Clemson. Isn’t Chapel Hill a more competitive college?
Wow… I also live in NC. I was accepted into Clemson , Computer Information systems in December with a scholarship of $7,500/yr. I was deferred by Chapel Hill. I was also accepted to Alabama($22,000/yr scholarship), UGA, NC State and U of SC(a least some money find out in March) . I had a 3.8 unweighted gpa with 5 AP’s and the rest honor classes, lots of EC and SAT of 1360/2040. Chapel Hill was my first choice so I am waiting to find out in March after sending in my first semester grades. It is interesting how students get such different results when applying to college.
I was very surprised that I was wait listed. UNC-Chapel Hill is considered a more prestigious university in regards to academics and I received an academic scholarship there as well for $5,000 a year. I know they release info for people wait listed in Mid May, but I as of now I am enrolled at Auburn. It is pretty crazy how school admissions operate differently.
