<p>nope, in 2010 the out of state acceptance rate was 57.2% while in-state was 57.7%. It’s just that more South Carolina HS students apply than out of state.</p>

is it really competitive to get into? like what types of grades would the like? low 90’s?</p>
<p>not sure what grades you would need but here’s what it says on the admissions website:</p>
<p>Freshman admission to Clemson is competitive and based largely on high school curriculum, grades, class standing, SAT or ACT scores, and choice of major. There is no set cutoff point for grades or class standing, but your high school record is more important than test scores. For the entering 2010 class, 51% of the freshmen graduated in the top 10% of their high school class, 76% graduated in the top 20%, and 98% finished in the top half of their class.
There is no set cutoff point for SAT scores. For the entering 2010 freshman class, the average SAT score (Critical Reading and Math only) was 1231 and the middle 50% range was 1160-1310.
There is no set cutoff point for ACT scores. For the entering 2010 freshman class, the average ACT was 28 and the middle 50% range was 26-30.</p>
