I’m studying for the CLEP Intro Psych exam right now. Any idea as to what a 50th percentile score might be on this test?
GENERALLY. and I say Generally…if you score a 50 on a CLEP exam, that is accepted as a passing score. However, you will want to check with your college as some colleges require a higher score to accept the credit. I don’t fully under the the scaled scoring system that the College Board uses. You should go to the College Board website and open up the CLEP section. Click ‘get started w/ CLEP’ and then ‘About Your Score’ which will give you more information. There is also a link to a pdf that explains the scoring. The Psych CLEP has about 95 questions, according to the outline on the Psych CLEP page. If you haven’t already reviewed the CollegBoard website, you should to learn about the test requirements. That way you can be sure that the materials you are using cover the topics that the CLEP will cover. Good Luck!
And many will ask, “How many questions do I have to get right in order to receive a score of ‘50’?” There is no firm answer that can be given as CLEP always has questions embedded within the test that are not even scored.
A score of ‘50’ is just that - a number. The range is from 20 (no answers correct) to 80 (a perfect score).
