i LOVE chicago. the only problem is i am strongly considering going pre-med and would like to end up at UCLA medical school. that being said, i don't know if i should go where i love and endure the grade deflation, or just go to dartmouth where the grading will be easier. and is the grade deflation all it's cracked up to be? or do the students tend to exaggerate it?

You won't do any better at Dartmouth, I am almost positive. My sister is a pre-med at Dartmouth, and most of her pre-med friends (who are very bright people who do well in school) really struggle for their science grades. Many of them will fulfill some pre-med requirements during the summer where they can focus on one subject or after graduation. My sister says the science classes she's taken at Dartmouth are curved to a B-. Though they probably grade some classes, particularly the humanities classes, easier than at Chicago, they do not have a serious problem with grade inflation. Go to the school you want to attend.

In pure principle, college is supposed to be your time, so go where you think you'd be happiest during those four year. In addition to that, corranged is on the money. Even at dartmouth you'd still struggle for those grades, just like you will (because of course you'll come!!!) here.
