I’m a senior and I’m taking AP Literature. Usually, I’m really good at writing, but for some reason, I’ve just been feeling intimidated but all of the work. My teacher isn’t lenient or understanding either so I’m hesitant to ask for help. I’m not the only one who feels this way in the class either. I have a “C” and it’s a couple percent away from a D and that cannot happen since I’m applying to UCs and Cal State. If I get a “D” first semester and happen to get accepted into a UC or CSU before they take a look at my transcript, what happens next? Will they revoke my admissions? That’ll probably make me severely depressed to be quiet honest. I could understand taking my grade and accepting it, but I’ve always been on top of my work and staying up all night to do it, only to come to school the next day, check my grades, and see that I got a low grade. It’s all so discouraging that I find myself wanting to cry.
If you receive a D or F in any Senior year class, you need to notify the CSU’s and UC’s after you have applied.
It could result in your admission being rescinded but it will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
Do your best to get that grade up to a solid C and do not hesitate in getting help from your teacher.
Here is the information for the UC’s:::::::::
What should a student do if they receive a D or F grade in the senior year (freshmen) or last term prior to enrolling at UC for fall (transfers)?
Prior to admission: the student must immediately write to the UC Application center at ucinfo@applyUCsupport.net. The correspondence will be made available to all campuses to which the student applied.
After admission: the student must contact the admissions office at the campus from which they received an admission offer to determine if the grade will negatively impact the offer. It is helpful if the student informs the campus of final grades received in all courses to show a balanced perspective of the academic accomplishments for the each term of the senior year.
It is difficult for campuses to make a decision based upon a possible grade. Until the student actually receives a grade below C, the campuses generally cannot offer guidance for hypothetical situations.

For the Cal states, you would need to contact each campus admissions office and they will let you know your next step.
“My teacher isn’t lenient or understanding either so I’m hesitant to ask for help.”
You need to ask for help. So pull yourself together, make an appointment to meet with the teacher when there will be a bit more time to discuss some of the specific things that you are struggling with, and then act on the teacher’s suggestions. Don’t try to have this conversation during class. Arrange to have it before or after school so that there aren’t other distractions.
Yes, this is scary. But it will be good practice for when you have to speak with your professors next year when you are in college.
If you don’t feel that you can ask your current teacher for help, do you have a trusted literature/writing teacher from a previous year that you can ask?
