Okay so ive only gotten one B thus far ( Freshman year Health ) and now thanks to my lazyness im about to get 3 B's ( B+ in apush, B+ in Honors Spanish, B- in Latin American Studies) and im starting to freak out. Salvaging an A on any of these is impossible. I know I could easily get an A in Apush next semester, possibly an A- in Honors Spanish, and an A+ in my second semester classs, LA Studies is just 1 semester. I was hoping to apply to schools in the range of Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, and Duke, but these grades are destroying that dream.
Do colleges look at upward trends within the same year? Say 3.7 gpa Semester 1 to 4.0 semester 2? Are these grades enough to keep me from the schools i had been considering?

if it helps, my friend’s brother got quite a few B’s in high school and he goes to notre dame

I think we are the same person…I am getting 2 B’s this semester as a Junior in AP Chem and Honors Physics. (Not due to laziness, I’m just honestly stupid)
But I’m applying to 2 of the schools you mentioned. I hope there is still hope for people like us
I guess with good EC’s and Test scores…maybe? I’m no help, but just know, you aren’t alone

Optimistically, I could MAYBE salvage an A- in APUSH and Honors Spanish. How bad would it look to have only two B‘s in Health and LA Studies?

I could get anywhere from 3 A’s and 3 B’s to straight A’s this semester. I got some of the worst teachers in my school.

I feel you OP… :/
