Clothes for college?

I know people got pretty annoyed/laughed at the "what will the well dressed guy be wearing this fall?" thread...i actually thought the spoof was pretty funny ("what will the finely attired freshman lady be adorned with this autumn?" responses included silk gloves, always.)
...anyways so this isn't that kindof question, but more how much money should i alott for spending on clothes and also what kind of clothes, weather-wise, should I invest in for the berkeley area?
I'm from seattle so my whole closet is dark pants, sweatshirts and rain coats.

should i factor this money into the "personal expenses" part of my budget?

what are you guys doing? thanks for the help!

bump it dawgs

It sounds like you’ll transition just fine in terms of the weather. Even right now Berkeley is in the 60-70s, so the weather almost never becomes too warm. Buy/bring clothes you can layer according to the weather, like sweaters, cardigans, long-sleeve shirts, and light coats. You’ll probably want to bring your rain shoes/boots.

People don’t really dress up here; hoodies/jeans (and even PJs…) are standard fare. Just be sure to bring at least one set of formal clothes (dress shirt, slacks, etc.).

As for personal expenses… That really depends on how much you spend on a regular basis.
