i have an alumni interview in a week. its happening downtown in a bank tower i think. also, its the guy’s workplace (i think he works for a law firm). any suggestions on clothing. should i just go simple dress pants and shirt with sweater (im in canada and its freezing now ) thank you

if it's his workplace, i suggest a nice dress shirt + tie / or sweater vest + khakis and dress shoes.

a suit would be overdressing right?

yes definitely. dress casual business attire at most.

Unless of course you have a magic tuxedo that will whisk away your audience and send charms to Penn that will seal your entrance into the school. Then don't hesitate to look somewhat overdressed and don it proudly, making sure to have vigorously brushed your teeth to have an equally dazzling smile to match your enchanted suit. Even if the suit malfunctions that day, the confidence boost it will give you will surely shine through the interview and your eased level of charm and grace while imagining that the suit was there to create it shall forever be remembered by your interviewer.

So you can just hire the serivices of a witch or warlock to cast this spell on your tuxedo the night before the interview and you shall be set for a road of great success in the future. This spell does not need a very skilled witch or warlock but it will last only 37 hours.

In fact, I once did this very thing for my interview for the Great Academy of Scholars and Revolutionary Mind-Thinkers in the hills of the Allops in which I cast my very own spell on my beautiful 15th century royal silk gown and even on my dainty, golden satin shoes and a wondrous daimond crown with a heart-shaped ruby at the very epicenter. With a midevil grace I conducted the interview and the interviewee seemed much impressed. In fact, with the laser eye x-rayer spell I cast on my right eye I saw that the guy wrote with a happy flourish the blessed words, "eccentric" on the commentary. And I with my impressive knowledge of the English vocabulary knew this very word to mean "Unique and Excellent in an unforgettable way". I feelI shall hide no more my success with interviews for that is rather selfish of me. I share with you, my friend, the secret to successful interviews. It is afterall the clothing that counts!!

Ok so yeh, in reality, I really don't think clothing matters very much as long as you don't look like a slob and at least mildly respectable.

hahah thanks i enjoyed that long-winded tale about clothing!

wear a nice polo (ralph lauren, lacoste, etc.) or nice dress shirt with some khaki pants and nice shiny shoes. a blazer (not suit) could work as a jacket and if you're still cold, add a sweater or vest.

ask the guy or his office...
