Club Cal!!!

I was just wondering if anyone else on this forum applied to Club Cal before? What were the pros and were there any cons?

Also, how long does it usually take them to respond to an application? I sent mine ~2 weeks ago and still haven't gotten a response via email.

I’m sending in mine tomorrow.

I am in club cal. It did take about 3 weeks for a reply. To be truthful there has been no emails or benefits to this program. I bet if I had questions they could answer them but I haven’t had any questions… So yeah I was excited to get in but then I haven’t really had any benefits from it…, so… That’s what’s up on club cal… In my opinion.

Yeah, I’m in Club Cal, too. Everything Rwasko said is true, but I anticipate hearing from Ana (the So Cal director) once the semester begins. Hopefully. haha.

Thanks guys for all the responses. I hope to hear from them soon. I hope I can find out about some benefits for it.

Evan I noticed you go to Mesa/City too. I was wondering if you have can recommend anyone at either of the two schools who is helpful. I noticed I knew more about the transfer process than both my counselors, and was hoping there was someone at the schools with useful information.

Posting too see the benefits of this as the semester starts. I am thinking about joining.

I also go to City and Mesa and I know quite a bit about the transfer process, I can give you a hand.

Hey UChopeful, Myself, along with BerkeleyorBust, seem to have a handle on it. NO ONE at Mesa or City staff knows as much as I do, sadly. I ask them questions for verification, and they have no idea, and I’ve even been mislead. Your best bet would be Tandy Ward at City College, he’s a counselor. Or, you could ask me :)

Also Edwin Hiel is the Honors Counselor at City. he is hard to get an appointment with, but he knows his stuff better than any other counselor I have worked with.

Are you in the Honors Program? With a high GPA like yours and being so motivated, being a certified honors student could open a lot of doors for you, like TAP.

No I’m not in honors. I did most of my classes while working 60 hours a week, so it was tough to try to fit honors classes in. Now that I’m going full-time I have a very rigid schedule if I want to transfer for Fall 2010.

Hey guys,

Will they send me an email whether or not I get accepted? I would like to know even if I get rejected so I don’t feel like my application got lost in the mail lol.

Been well over a month, guess I didn’t get in -_-

keep waiting! Now is probably a busy time for club cal applications. From what I get from it it is only one lady up there…she is probably really busy! Have you call them?

dont give up!

Ana Rafferty? She seems nice, I haven’t spoken to her but a couple times. Are we supposed to do anything once we’re in club cal? :/

I havent done anything with them…but as soon as I am done with my personal essays I am going to send them to her to see if she can read over them.

Also…I am going to go to my Scholars Program orentation for UCLA on Sept 19th. I am excited! I really would like to have a rough draft before then…so that someone there can look over my essay.

Rwasko, do you think you could provide me with the phone number for Club Cal?

Isn’t club cal exclusively for first generation college students and low income families?

^Yes, I qualify under both those fields which is why I am wondering if I will get it or not
