CMPS 101 or CMPE 107?

As I mentioned in another thread, I will be working with a professor in the Comp. Eng. department very soon. She and a few other professors have suggested that I take CMPS 101 and CMPE 107, in which I am in the process of enrolling.

I am a bit concerned about the workload of the classes, so my plan is to take one class per quarter. CMPS 101 looks much more difficult, so I want to take CMPE 107 first. CMPE 107 is full and enrollment is closed, but a professor told me that he may still be able to get me in.

Another thing is, I might be applying for a job at Cisco soon, and I feel that CMPS 101 would be more useful for me. Since I am taking the course for knowledge rather than grades, I feel that a P/NP option would be better for me.

In any case, I am sitting in on both classes right now. My questions are:

Should I take CMPE 107 or CMPS 101 first?

Are concurrently enrolled (i.e., non-admitted) students choose a P/NP option for any of those two courses?

Thanks.

CMPS 101, likely. According to the department schedule it’s only taught in Fall and Spring this school year. Not sure about CE 107 though.
