According to a good source Acting calls have started to go out;)

Oh. my. god. gulp.

I know of 1 boy and 2 girls.

S did not audition (long story – applied but could not get audition time), and even still, I am anxious for everyone!! Fingers crossed for all in the running!

Good Luck to all!

No call here.

I phoned my son’s acting coach earlier today for an unrelated reason, and he had just heard from another one of his students, who was ecstatic because she HAD received The Call.

Well, I guess that’s that. Onward.

Strange. Calls announced as having started. Right away its reported here and on the Allied that 2 girls and 1 boy were called. Then nothing after that. Either all the calls have been made and folks are keeping it to themselves more than in the past or Barbara started making calls and then stopped. Anyone with info would be appreciated.

Actingdad, what is this allied fb page you have referenced? My son has tried to find it with no avail. Is it a theatre-based group?

Acting Dad, i’m wondering also, what is “the Allied”?
Lots of coverage of the topic of the calls on the MT forum as well.

I know of a girl who was called. She is a student at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts (the Washington DC magnet school).

It is some facebook group. I couldn’t possibly tell you how to find it as that is my daughter’s province.

Ok. Thanks.

I know The Allied. I will not share the link to respect ActingDad’s D’s and my own privacy. It’s pretty easy to find on facebook, though.

^It’s not a secret, guys, and Milkshakespeare, I’m pretty sure it’s like any other closed FB group–you have to be approved to join and see it, right? Posting the link wouldn’t matter anyway unless people can’t figure out to type “the allied” into the facebook search bar. You still have to be IN the group to see anything beyond the basics.

Btw parents, just so you know, I was told it’s specific to this application year–each year a new group is created with a different name. But there’s no reason to be hush-hush-secret-clubhouse about it, the mommies and daddies can’t peek, so fear not. It’s not a big deal, just another way for kids to stay in touch about the process. My son has ignored it, as he keeps up with friends via summer-program groups and those for admitted students and doesn’t feel the need for anything else. And for the grownups, we have CC! :D

Absolutely, Times3…it is not a secret group at all and very easy for the kids to find. My son is also not on it, but he does have friends who are…

I know of a girl from one of the well-known arts boarding schools who got the call. People posting on CC and the Allied are a minority of all the people applying to BFA programs obviously.

I’d forgotten it was a close group…haha. It has 1000 kids or something, so it’s not exactly “closed”. I was in it for a couple of weeks before my auditions, then left because I was getting lots of notifications and didn’t care about them and then got back. It’s a silly group. Basically just type “The Allied” on the search bar and find the group with the right description.

^^Good point, researchmaven, and I have to keep reminding myself of that–not all acceptances to specific schools are going to people on CC!–this has become my little universe! Kinda ridiculous, but I continue to be grateful for the sense of community as much as for the information.

Thanks for the info on Allied. Nice just to know what it refers to, but I agree, doesn’t seem necessary and perhaps not nearly as meaningful, or comforting as CC, for a relic such as myself, LOL!
