I already turned in my FAFSA but I just recently turned in the CSS Profile and documents on IDOC after I got accepted. I was wondering if the grants will still be available since I turned these in so late. Does anyone know how is the financial aid for CMU in general? I don’t know if I will be able to afford the tuition since I will be going so far away from my home (CA).
Did you run the net price calculator to get a rough idea? What did it say?
I’m in a similar situation. I gave up on submitting my CSS because I was told there was little to no chance of me receiving any financial aid, but after getting accepted I realized Carnegie Scholarships are for those like me, who need little to no financial assistance but are hoping for some merit scholarships. If I submitted my CSS and IDOC today, do you guys think there’s a chance I’ll receive any scholarships or grants?
@carachel2 Yeah, I tried the anonymous net price calculator with rough estimates of my parent’s income. I got around 20k, but since I am submitting this info so late and past the Feb deadline, I am worried that CMU will not give me any financial aid.
@Mlbanana How do you apply for the Carnegie Scholarships? LOL I don’t think I will even qualify for them because my grades aren’t really spectacular.
I think it’s just something that you’re automatically considered for when applying, but you have to send in your financial aid information. I emailed CMU the other day and they said that (this is verbatim by the way): “The application deadline for financial aid applications enables our committee to review and respond to financial aid applications in a timely manner. Missing the deadline does not, however, impact your ability to be considered for need-based financial assistance.” So I don’t think you need to worry.
at the bottom of the financial notification, it said for me that it was a tentative aid package and they would make it official when they get everything they need. they might still accept materials? i don’t know to be honest
I submitted all my materials and CMU dates that they’ve received the forms on the 29th. On my financial aid letter which was dated the 29th, it says I did not receive any grants. Is this the final financial aid decision or do they need some more time to process the received documents?
My D is a Carnegie Scholar. It is given to you, you don’t apply for it.
