CNAS major change

Hello

Recently my major change to cell biology was declined. I was wondering that if I want to request to change again to a science major like microbiology or biochemistry will it be declined again?

What major were you accepted into at UCR?

Middle East studies

Most likely you will be declined again since the all the CNAS majors are competitive. I would attend UCR and take the pre-req courses needed to change your major as 2nd or 3rd quarter Freshman. I think you need to prove to UCR that you will be able to handle the course rigor for these majors by completing the Chemistry/Math and Biology requirements as listed.

Did you take Chemistry/Biology/Physics in HS and did you do well in these courses?

I took AP Chem, Biology, and AP Environmental Science. Do you think if I request a major change to environmental sciences will that be accepted?

I got very good grades on these courses. How can they determine that I will be able to handle the course rigor?

You could try but since it seems you are unsure of what major you want to pursue, I would take the pre-req courses and see what you end up liking. The first year or two will be mainly pre-req and GE courses which will fulfill most requirements for a variety of majors.

I am sure of what major I want to pursue but I really want to get out of CHASS. Do you think Environmental Sciences would be easy to get into based on my background?

I worry that if I go to UCR I will stay in Middle East studies and not be able change majors.

So if you cannot change to any your preferred majors in CNAS at UCR, you will not attend? I would give Environmental Science a try, since you have nothing to lose.

Yes I will not attend. One last question. As I am currently in CHASS, if I apply request to change to psychology, will that be accepted. I am also interested in psychology.

Again, you can try to change your major. Within CHASS would be easier than outside CHASS but no guarantees since Psychology is usually a very popular major.

@Vandad Were you able to change to CNAS after all? How did that go for you?
