CNTV Minor - Acceptance Rate?

My younger brother wants to be a film director and is enamored with USC CNTV film school. However, after reading threads on this board, the chances he will make it into the program are very slim. However, I wondered how difficult it is to get a minor at CNTV. He eventually wants to produce and/or direct films... it's been his dream since he was about 10 years old.

Also, he is considering taking USC's basic filmmaking course for 8 credits next summer. Will this help at all? He's taking a Digital Film class at UCLA this summer for 2 college credits.

Any insight into the process of minoring and admission rates would be appreciated.

Don't know if this matters, but he is from a small town in the midwest, goes to a private school with a 3.8 GPA and, although he hasn't taken the SAT, he will likely be in the middle 50% range... so this assumes he even gets in to USC.

My daughter is a Critical Studies major. What I can tell you is this: She has friends who didn't have amazing gpas and got in second semester because of their film experience and demonstrated passion for film-making. My daughter had very high grades...and not great SATs. I believe that if you prove to admissions that you can do the work...with very high grades in college level classes...you have a leg up.

Now, if anyone has any insight on BFA (acting) admissions....that would be amazing.
