CoC Phase I help

CHEM 4A (4)

MATH 53 (4)

CHEM C96 (1)

PSYCH 24 (1)

PHYSICS 7A (4)

I'm an incoming freshman and I have no clue what i should phase I. from what i've heard, i should phase one the seminar (psych 24) and chem 4a to get a decent lab time, but that's only 5 units. since chem c96 is guaranteed (i hope?) should i phase I math or physics
also, is this course load too much? It's only 14 units but i know chem 4a is killer...
thanks!

if anything this courseload is too little.

CalSO (stupidly) categorically recommends that all L&S and CNR students should take 13-14 units their first semester, but I do not think that is true for CoC

This the CoC curriculum.

Yeah… i figured as much when i only counted 14 units, but i don’t know what else to take! I’ve fulfilled all my breadth requirements and i’m aiming to do R&C later when i have senior standing so i can take German 5A or something
what else could i take?

It’s true for CoC too (that they recommend 13-14 units). I honestly think that you have a fine schedule right now and I highly suggest that you do not add another technical class. However, an AC or just a random humanity that you might be interested in will be fine :).

Phase I Physics 7A and Chem 4A. I think Physics 7A fills up more quickly than Math 53. Chem 96 is pretty much guaranteed but you have 10 units for phase I so you might as well add it anyway. It’s kind of boring though, so I don’t think anyone else would want to take it.

oh wait it’s not required? because i read in the booklet that all students in CoC need to take it…
And i want the take psych 166AC (i think?), so i have to take psych 1/2…maybe second semester after i’ve adjusted a bit

No it is required, but quite boring. It is not required by any other majors. Psych 1/2 will be a great choice.
