Sarah, best idea ever! hahaha that would be a top notch school  and currently I am eating my feelings away… LOL yay for finger food when it comes to anticipation!

This thread has gotten ~10 pages longer since yesterday! I hope we’ll find out today - otherwise, I’ll be very sad indeed haha

So they’ve moved on to finding a place for the weekend etc…pretty coool…Probably doing a lot while they have the whole group of educators together still…

Thanks jashton519!

I think its so funny how we all see Coke everywhere now! On commericials, in the cafeteria, etc and we we immediately think of the scholarship!

I feel like we would be super-caffeinated that entire weekend…

hahaha Equine!

I’m drinking Coke right now, and I didn’t even realize. My family doesn’t really drink soda since it’s just my mom and me, but we had some, and it ended up being Coke. They’re mocking me. Haha.

One of my friends who went to Coke Scholars weekend last year said all the vending machines gave out free Coke!! Awesome :)

I feel like my anxiety has been magnified…It’s enough already not knowing whether or not I’m a finalist. And now we don’t know when we will be notified! AHH!!

I would imagine they would serve coke, but that would be a lot of energy in one room

yeah Sarah…I"d have to do the caffeine free…so some of us MIGHT be calmer…lol :)

Watermellen how did they enjoy the weekend? was it a blast?!

The greatest sweetener of human life is friendship. To raise this to the highest pitch of enjoyment, is a secret which but few discover. Joseph Addison - 17th Century English essayist

When April Bell of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Johnny Tran of Huntington Beach, California, crossed paths on the final evening of the 1995 Coca-Cola Scholar’s Weekend, they had no idea that their lengthy and sleepy-eyed conversation would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Johnny recalls meeting April for the first time in the lounge of Atlanta’s Renaissance Hotel during her attempt to demonstrate the proper way to make a poker face. April describes their first encounter as a hotel-roaming excursion that left them taking a break on a staircase. They do agree however, that they "laughed… and laughed “until their cheeks were sore,” and finally said goodnight around 5:00am.

Nearly five years later, the two have become best friends who have supported and learned from each other throughout their collegiate experience. Johnny attending the University of California at San Diego and April attending Hendrix College in Arkansas, one may believe that maintaining a close relationship like their own is impossible. These two however, will argue that each conversation and letter between them was a reminder of the excitement and honor of their equally magical Scholar’s Weekend and kept them hooked on each other’s sincerity, warmth, and steadfast attention. When asked to describe their friendship, April said, “He’s like a brother to me. He’s probably the most open-minded, non-judgmental, and honest person I know. I feel like I can completely be myself around him.”

Even after graduation, April and Johnny continue to motivate and inspire each other regularly. As teachers affiliated with Teach for America, April instructs 10th -12th grade students in rural North Carolina, while Johnny teaches a large group of lively 6th graders in New York City. It is appropriate to say that these two have plenty to talk about. April says that their locations are convenient for visitation, just in case either one of them needs a brief change of pace. Even if they have not seen each other over an extended period of time, it never fails that when one is down, the other is a “pick-me-up.” Johnny is proud say that he and April are best friends, as he defines the term as “friends who never take each other for granted and are always there for support.”

A bond like Johnny and April’s is not forced to grow, but nourished from day one. Since their first encounter they have slowly developed high expectations of each other and a strong commitment to remain trustworthy and loyal. There is no doubt in their minds that their friendship will go the distance and provide many smiles and laughs to come. April Bell and Johnny Tran are exemplary Coca-Cola Scholars because they are still motivated, still dedicated, still involved, and most of all . . . still friends.

Financial support isn’t the only benefit of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation program. The story above is just one example of the lasting friendships that began with a simple application. If you’d like to locate a fellow Scholar, use the search engine on the right.

I love this story…right off the Coca=cola foundation page…

It just sucks that they definitely know and probably mailed out the physical letters today and won’t just post the list online! If only we could hack their system! haha, for a good cause.

I sent a message to a Scholar who happens to be a friend of mine  I’ll let you guys know what she tells me  Im so proud of her! She actually introduced all of this to me, and is the reason for why I applied.

They have the winners and are contacting each of them via email and mail.
They WILL NOT post results online until after finalists are notified.
