Hi I would like to know what my chances are of getting in MSU so far. I am a Palestinian born in the West Bank and have lived in the USA for 15 years and am a US citizen.

I am a rising Senior in high school and have a 3.9 GPA unweighted. I go to a small school and am ranked 3 out of 106 kids in my class. Our school doesn't weigh GPA's and only offers one honors class which I took. I'm taking the hardest classes I can.

ACT score was a 27. I'm on the Varsity track team, National Honor Society, Science Olympiad, attended Michigan boys state, and I took sixth in state for a project I built in class.

What are my chances for the college of engineering?

You’re almost guaranteed to get in. If those were the hardest classes available MSU won’t hold it against you.

You will get in unless something goes seriously wrong with your application (ie you don’t submit your transcripts or ACT scores). You have no reason to worry at all!

No need to bump; it’s not really under any debate. Just apply early and put actual effort into your application.

My math sub score was pretty low compared to my other scores on the ACT. Will this make it even harder to get into engineering specifically not just the school.

I think you will definitely get in (even if your math score is a little low). You have a great GPA and your test score is right on par for the CoE. Nothing to worry about. Go green!

Msugeology do you know when the application opens? Go green!

I recall applying in late August/early September last year. And they got back to me in less than two weeks!

I’d be extremely surprised if you don’t get in. Apply early for the best chance, and you’re almost certain to get in. Late August/early September sounds about right from what I remember.

Yeah you’re a sure in. If you’re pursuing engineering and do yourself a big favour and get an ACT score at 28 or above and take everything you can, or you will be stuck taking a bunch of useless math classes, basically if you can score 28 or higher(or do well on their placement test) you will be placed correctly in the math track for engineering.
