I think it just depends on what your comfort level is in terms of living in close proximity to/sharing residential spaces with people of the opposite gender. Some women, for any number of possible reasons, find it uncomfortable to share relatively close quarters with men. Others do not. I don’t think it’s really much more complicated than that.
It really depends on where you’re more comfortable. I didn’t have a preference one way or the other, but I knew that my parents would feel more comfortable with me on an all female floor, so I chose all female.
In my experience, the all female floors at Georgetown are generally much quieter. This is in part because the people who choose them tend to not be the rambunctious, partying type and so you end up with fewer late night hordes of loud people roaming outside your door on weekends. The downside is that they are often in Darnal or Harbin which means smaller rooms than New South and no private bathrooms like in VCW.
