I'm trying to decide whether to apply for a single sex floor for next year. Could some current students just comment on those? Whom do they attract? What types of people live on these floors?

Unless you have a strong (I mean extremely strong) preference for single sex floors, I would go with co-ed floors.

sophomore, why do you say this? just curious thanks

Just part of the normal college experience ;)

Care to elaborate?

most people on single-sex floors did not necessarily request to be there. if only one person requests a single-sex floor, then georgetown will provide one, filling it up with other students. the freshman female floor is Harbin 6 (affectionately referred to as chicks on six). there is no all-male floor as of yet, as one has never been requested.

i suggest that you live on a co-ed floor. as soph12 stated, it is part of the college experience. moreover, no floors at georgetown are completely mixed-sex. in harbin, clusters are single sex, and in the other residence halls, one end is male and the other is female. bathrooms are obviously single-sex.

you become extremely close with your freshman floor (or at least I did), and I do not think you should limit yourself to the types of people that you have the opportunity to live with, in regards to sex, gender, race, religion, nationality, school, etc.

why are you considering it?
