Single-sex housing?

Hello all! Just committed to Georgetown for the fall, and I am thinking about requesting to live on a single-sex floor.

I would be comfortable living in an all-girl cluster in Harbin, however, since that is not guaranteed, I think I should request single-sex (my parents would prefer that due to cultural tradition). Does anyone have any experience with these? Are the girls that choose to live on them social too? Or are there a specific type of girls that choose single-sex dorms? I would feel more comfortable on a single-sex floor but do not want to ruin my college experience overall. I appreciate the help!!

I would not worry at all about living on a single-sex floor. The girls that live there are just as social as anyone else, and generally just felt more comfortable in a single-sex living situation because of cultural tradition or personal preferences. The girls single-sex floor is in Harbin, and you still have plenty of opportunity to interact with people off of your floor as well.
