I am an international student studying here at SUNY Oswego, majoring in Cognitive Science. I want to transfer to better colleges that offer cognitive science as an undergraduate major, which is quite rare unfortuantely. And most of them are very good: Yale, Brown, Northwestern, UCLA, UCSD, Occidental....

I have
SAT I 1380 (580 verbal, 800 math)
TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language, 653, 677 is the full mark)
High school GPA 3.9

and in SUNY Oswego
Presidential Scholar
Computer Science Association
and hopefully a GPA >=3.5 in the first two semesters.

Is that possible that I have a decent chance of getting into Occidental or something? Thanks. I am not familiar with the transfer criteria. Worrying........:)

I am not sure if Yale, Northwestern, or Brown offer the best CogSci programs. For CogSci, you will want to target universities with key professors in the field. I know many, but the most prominent are Daniel Dennett and John Searle. The former teaches at Tufts University and the latter at UC Berkeley. You will have a better chance at those schools, too, than at Yale, Brown and Northwestern.

Georgetown offers CogSci, as does Rice, if I am not mistaken.

My knowledge of CogSci is somewhat limited, but the following professors are well-regarded:
Professor Godfrey-Smith (I think that is the spelling) at Harvard
John Searle (UC Berkeley)
Daniel Dennett (Tufts University)
Michael Tye (UT - Austin)
David Chalmers (Unknown)
Alva Noe (Unknown)

There could be others, but I am not focusing in Cognitive Science.
